|Friends of the Library Meeting Minutes for May 19, 2011|

Meeting agenda and prior meeting minutes approved.

President's Report - Jennifer Gustafson
Jennifer will be moving to Germany in September. Linda will work with Jennifer to get things in order and up to speed before leaving. Linda will then step in as acting President.
Jennifer is looking to find new people to sign up for membership. If people sign up at the $100 level they will be included on the Summer Reading Program T shirt.
Monday, May 23 will be the book and author luncheon. Jennifer is looking to find someone to replace her as she volunteered to chair next year's luncheon.
Jennifer is looking to start a list-serve for the Friends. She met with Michael to get some information and input on how to start the list.
Library Director - Julie Herrin
The library was at full staff for April and May. There is one person who has now announced her retirement. This will take place in June
May 11 the interior designer for the Teen Book area made his proposal for renovations.
Summer Reading for adults will start June 1. It will be a reading game. Coffee coupons will be given for each 10 books read.
The Summer Reading Program for the Youth and Teen Program will start on June 17, 2011.
The Friends section on the web needs to be a little more "lively". Changes are being made to the website to spruce up the page.

We received three memberships.
Membership - Ellison Franklin
Currently the Friends have 217 memberships. Last year we had 285. Memberships continue to be received throughout the year. Ellison will be doing another mailing.
Gift Store - Martha Nork & Linda Schwelnus
Income/Expense report disbursed to group.
The store is looking to purchase new cash register. Martha and Linda are looking at researching their options. They will present their top three options to the board.
Used Book Sale - Jim Morche & Paul SnyderUsed Books - This is the first spring book sale in five years. There were a lot fewer books than in previous sales. It didn't take as much staff to run or set up the sale. We donated 100 boxes of books to St. Vincent DePaul. Prices were lowered on the bag sale. The sale went for fewer days than previous sales. We didn't make as much as previous sales. Overall it was successful.
Paul wanted to apologize to Sandy. He forgot to mention in to her the sale and it did not end up in the Friends newsletter.
Paul will be doing a debriefing with the workers to see what was successful and what needs to be changed.
Old Business - None.
Jennifer would like to host a wine tasting/social event/silent auction for the Friends. She did something similar in another group. Discussion was centered on if it was feasible and when we would hold the event. Erin made a motion to form a committee to explore the option to host an event possibly wine tasting/silent auction in August.
