Northville Township Archives Scrapbooks
The Northville Township Archives Scrapbooks are comprised of 16 scrapbooks covering the years 1971-1996. The subjects of the articles include areas of Township government, and activities and institutions in the Township. The vast majority of clippings (99%) are from the Northville Record, but the scrapbooks contain some clippings from each of these sources:
The scrapbooks were created by Northville Township staff from 1971-1996 and donated to the Northville District Library’s Local History Collection in July 2011.
The alphabetical index, created by Joseph Oldenburg in April 2011, includes the subject of the article, title of the article, dates of the scrapbook, year of the article, page in the scrapbook, and title and date of the primary source document.
Users of the index should be aware that the dates of the articles may not be completely accurate because frequently the articles in the scrapbooks had no dates, so the indexer had to infer dates from articles in close proximity to the article being indexed. The online index is a single PDF file, and requires you have an appropriate PDF viewer enabled on your computer. Examples of common FREE PDF viewers include Adobe Acrobat or Fox It Reader.
Users also should note that the Public Notices in the scrapbooks are not included in this index. The Township maintains a separate database of these items and should be consulted for assistance in finding those notices.
