Back for a third summer, the DNR and the Library of Michigan are again offering Park & Read, which allows Northville District Library resident cardholders to “check-out” a free one-day vehicle permit to any Michigan state park or recreation area this summer.
This $6 savings also provides free access to the more than 500 events taking place in state parks throughout the summer.
Passes are valid for seven days from check-out and may be used for one day at any one of Michigan’s 98 state parks. Passes are valid for day-use only.
Many participating parks will offer a free hammock to use during your time in the park, allowing you to fully enjoy a great book in Michigan’s great outdoors.

Can't find the title you want in our Shared Catalog? Try MeLCat for Interlibrary Loan.
If you are unable to find what you are searching for in the eLibrary online catalog, you may search for it on MeLCat, a collection of library holdings throughout the state of Michigan.
How do I get started?
Search the MeLCat catalog, located on the eLibrary main Search page in the box on the right. Once you locate a title you want to borrow, click on "Get This for Me," then select your home library from the drop-down list; this MUST be the library from which you have your Library Card. The item will be delivered to that Library. Then enter your name and library card number, as prompted. Please note that in order to request a title, it must be checked in at the owning library. Requests cannot be placed on titles when all copies are checked out.
How long does it take to get a requested item?
Typically it takes about two - three (2 -3) weeks. Once items are delivered to the Northville District Library and are ready for pick up, you will be notified by email or automated phone call. Please bring your library card to check out your MeLCat request.
How long can I borrow the MeLCat item?
Most items circulate for three (3) weeks.
What if I want to renew it?
Most items can be renewed once. You may call the Library at 248-349-3020 and ask for a renewal. As always, please have your library card available when you call.
Can I check the status of a request I placed?
Yes, by going to MY MELCAT on the MeLCat home page.
Are there items I cannot borrow through MelCat?
Libraries typically will not lend audio/visual items (Blu-ray, DVDs, VHS formatted videos, CDs), magazines or newspapers, rare or fragile materials, or reference books. Newly published books are also difficult to borrow.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD NOT USE MELCAT TO REQUEST A TITLE THAT IS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SHARED SYSTEM ELIBRARY CATALOG. The Library Network (TLN) eLibrary is a collection of materials from over 50 area libraries. It is always faster and more efficient to request an item through the eLibrary, if your library is part of the Shared System, as Northville is.
