Description: Battle of the Books is a fun reading program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Teams of 2 to 6 students read from a selected set of seven books and compete to answer questions based on those books. Among the team, members read 1 to 7 books, meet to practice answering questions, and participate in the final competition. Add to the fun by creating and wearing optional team costumes.
Eligibility: All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who live or go to school in Northville are eligible to participate. Teams of 2 to 6 students can be in different grades, attend different schools, or home school. One adult team manager required.
Registration: Registration begins November 25 at the Northville District Library and your school's library media center. Please return completed form, attached below, to the Northville District Library or your school's library media center no later than February 8. Each team MUST have a team name on the registration form.
Team Manager Responsibilities: A team manager and/or co-manager can be any adult who will serve as the contact person between the team and the Northville District Library. The team manager or co-manager must attend the Managers Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21. Managers should coordinate team meetings to prepare for battle, inform the library of any team changes or corrections by February 28, and arrange team attendance at the event.
Competition date & location: TEAMS MUST ARRIVE by 6:00 p.m. for check-in and team pictures as Battle of the Books begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 in the cafeteria at Northville High School, 45700 Six Mile Rd.
